Computer Components

Computers come in many varieties and sizes. There are primarily two main sizes portable and desktop. The portable computers range from laptops and hand-held computers, notebook, etc. The desktop on the other hand is not mobile is mostly found in offices or at homes. The portable computers have less external devices while the desktop has more external devices. In portable computers, the visible parts are internalized.

Computer Components

The main components of a computer are basically; case, monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

Case

The case of the computer comprises of

Power supply; this element is mentioned separately since there are various types of supplies depending on the requirements of the system.

Motherboard; the core components of the computers reside on the motherboard for instance support cards for videos, sound, and networking.

Monitor

This device allows the user to see how the computer is responding to their demands. The control more likely operates as TV set.

Keyboard

This is where the user types or enters text commands into the computer.

Mouse

The mouse is a point and clicks interface for entering commands; it mainly functions well in a graphical interface.

Software

The software of the computer mainly comprises of the computer programs and related data. The software offers instructions for informing the computer hardware how to perform tasks. The software has a capability of performing many tasks as compared to the device which mainly performs mechanical functions. Computer system divides software systems into two broad categories;

System software

This software facilitates running of the computer hardware and computer system. System software includes operating systems, diagnostic tools, device drivers and more.

Application software

Application software allows users to perform one or more tasks. The software includes word processing, web browsing and almost any other task for which you might install the software.

The software is usually designed in a high-level programming language. The language is more or less readable by individuals. The high-level instructions are converted into machine language represented in binary code. This happens before the hardware runs the code.

Hardware

The computer hardware comprises the visible collection of the computer. The hardware parts of a computer include; monitor, keyboard, computer data storage, hard disk drive (HDD), graphic card, sound card, memory (RAM), motherboard, and much more.

The hardware mainly comprises of the tangible objects as in comparison to the software.

Some of the functioning and the sub- parts such as monitor and keyboard are spelled out above on the components of the computer. The following are the functions of the other parts of the hardware.

Hard disk drive

This is where the permanent storage of the computer files occurs. The operating system to is usually installed here.

Memory (RAM)

RAM in the system is mainly mounted on the motherboard. This, memory is powered so as to retain its contents. Random-Acess memory stores the code data and data that is co continuously accessed by the CPU

In the memory, there is also (ROM) Read-only Memory. This memory runs when the computer is powered on. It begins an execution process known as booting.

Graphics card

This card is also known as the video card. It handles the computer graphics. For demanding tasks, such as playing intense video games, the more powerful graphic cards are better.

Sound card

The sound card simply supports the sound emanating from the computer

The CPU

One of the components attached to a motherboard is the CPU. The central processing unit enables the computer to function by doing most of the calculations. The CPU is reliant on the cooling system because it performs at the expense of greater thermal output.

In summary; all the computing devices whether internal or external, work hand in hand. There is no part of the computer that would function properly by itself. The striking correlation of the devices allows the user to receive results. The primary basic duties of the computer input, processing and storage would be incomplete if it were not for the facilitation of the computer devices. The other terms to describe the relation of the devices would be symbiotic; they require each other to fulfill their potential. Whether using a portable computer or a desktop, the devices are mostly similar with a very slight difference.

For any need of any computing devices, John Lewis tech store has a variety including iPad, tablets laptops, MacBook, Desktop PCs and much more. The list t of more computing devices can be found on John Lewis website or at the John Lewis tech store.
